Spread Eagle Thame Dining
They applauded him then,
we salute him now!
The genesis of our new Bar and Restaurant crystallizing before your eyes as a fresh, new English menu is fashioned. Our recently refurbished restaurant is a true mix of tradition and style as befits the hotel’s history, our bespoke bar pays homage towards the hotel’s literary past.
With plenty for the epicurean to sip and savour and bags of reassurance in the comfort cooking section of the menu... there is bound to be a dish for you!
Enjoy a candlelit supper for two whilst watching the world go or take time out to celebrate that special occasion with family, friends or colleagues.
Once made famous by John Fothergill the eccentric Proprietor of the Spread Eagle in the 1920’s, our restaurant acknowledges its debt of gratitude to him for introducing haute cuisine to the provinces. He chronicled his experiences in the widely read book "An Innkeepers Diary".
